A Cut Above: Award Recognition to Start the Year

Matthew Pull January 4, 2026

The beginning of a new year is the perfect time to reflect on the work that shaped the last twelve months and to look ahead to what’s next. As a London-based event photographer working across the UK, 2025 ended on a particularly high note and I wanted to start the year by sharing a couple of highlights I’m incredibly proud of.

Last year, my photograph A Cut Above was nominated in the British Photography Awards, a respected UK photography competition celebrating excellence across multiple genres. The image was captured at a live event in London and focuses on people, detail and timing, which are central to my approach to professional event photography.

In addition to this nomination, I was also awarded Highly Commended in the Event Photography Awards, recognising high-quality event photography from across the UK. Event photography is a fast-paced and technically demanding discipline, requiring an ability to respond quickly while still producing consistent, storytelling images. Recognition from industry judges is always meaningful and reinforces the importance of experience, preparation and attention to detail.

These achievements reflect my ongoing commitment to delivering professional event photography in London and throughout the UK that goes beyond simple documentation. I work across corporate events, conferences, festivals, brand activations and live experiences, capturing authentic moments, atmosphere and narrative for a wide range of clients.

As I move into the new year, I’m excited to continue working with clients in London and across the UK who value thoughtful, people-focused photography and strong visual storytelling. With a busy events calendar already taking shape, I’m looking forward to creating more award-recognised event photography in the year ahead.

If you’re looking for an experienced London event photographer or need reliable UK-wide event photography, I’d love to hear from you.
